Yes, the creator of the Addams Family .... was born on this date....
The books of his collected works were books that we regularly checked out at the Monroe library when I was a kid... So Mr. Addams' work was a treasured part of my childhood.....
We really enjoyed his "dark humor"....
These morbid (but funny) cartoons helped to form our sense of humor from an early age....
And , of course, He gave us the Addams Family....!!!!
His cartoons and creations have brought Millions of "Smiles" to our world....
He will be sadly missed....
Took us well over 1/2 an hour to post this... Damned malfunctioning "mouse"....
ReplyDeleteSorry about that....
LOVED the Addams Family. Happy Birthday Charles!
ReplyDeleteThat mouse must be frustrating you to no end - I hate when technology won't work correctly. What a super post - I never even saw Charles Addams cartoon until I started following Little Gothic Horrors. Never knew what I was missing.
ReplyDeleteI saw on the news Pugsly died. Well, the character who played him did. But on a lighter note Eddie from the Munsters is still alive and kicking.
ReplyDeleteWe saw a recent clip of him (Butch Patrick) on you tube back in October....
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that he died... He is the only one that we cannot remember by name...
Lady Emma is a great fan of Mr. Addams dear Lady M....
ReplyDeleteThat is where we were reminded of his birthday was from her post....
I love Gomez and Morticia!
ReplyDeleteDid you ever see the Barbie (and Ken) dolls...???
DeleteThe Addams Family probably had as big an influence on my developing sense of humour as a youngster as The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy and Monty Python.
ReplyDeleteActually probably more as I grew up wanting to be a member of The Addams Family (rather than a hitch-hiker or a lumberjack). Specifically I wanted to be Gomez, who I thought - and still think - is the most incredible character.
