The great British actor Sir Christopher Lee has passed.....
This is the "Dracula" that we grew up with since childhood....
and being over 90 years old... he had just had his birthday a couple of weeks ago....
And this versatile actor has been in Many more recent films as well.... creating some "Memorable" Characters in the process.... he will be greatly missed...
Horror of Dracula has Always been one of my favorite horror films....
he brought a new "Life" to this great Villain...!!!
Especially Birthday Wishes to Mr. Price born on may 27th....
"Other Birthday" Celebrations......
Today is Creature from the Black Lagoon Day...!!!!
And Yesterday was "Godzilla Day".....!!!!
and atop All of That The "Count Dracula" of my childhood, Sir Christopher Lee turned 93...!!!
And Later a more fitting Tribute to the Great Mr. Price....
Audiences were un-prepared for the screen version of Bram Stoker's creation back in 1931...
and with his accent and "graceful" way of moving.... these only added to the "creepy" aspect of his performance.... He was Not some mis-shapened hiedious beast .... he presented himself as a "smooth-talking" proper gentleman.... .. Presenting no "real threat" to his victims.... That was the way the Count was due to his royal upbringing... His manner would put his intended Victim at ease... Thus they seldom saw his attack coming....
About the only "draw-back" to being a vampire is lying helpless in a casket while the Sun is up...
This iconic image is the one that we remember best from our childhood...
...."I am Dracula,... and I bid you velcome".... one of my all time favorite movie lines...
And the Sets used in this 1931 film were just "Awesome"....!!!!
The "Horror of Dracula" was always my favorite... (we did a Huge post on this film a while back)
The final battle in this film was great ... we still enjoy this one.....
Do Not knot how long it will be viewable .... but here is that great film.....
Where as Hammer Films Dracula (Christopher Lee) could still act like a gentleman as well .... But could quickly become a ruthless blood-crazed Fiend....These British classics ... did get to show Much more Blood on the screen....
with those bloodshot contacts ...Lee made for rather "scary" Vampire....
"Vampires" were Not "sparkling" Teen Idols back then .... They were "Real" Monsters...
And Thanks again to that Great blog "Classic Movie Monsters" for many of these images....
our Classic Monster for the Day will be the immortal "Count Dracula"...!!!!
and his faithful servant "Renfield".....
Not only Lagosi's famous performance.... but the "Dracula" of my childhood ...Christopher Lee...!!!
One to print and color for yourself....
More on Witches Later .....
When we were younger we would watch "Dr. Evil"... (Phil Morris....) on Friday Nights...
How about a horror movie Kiddies.....???
The House That Dripped Blood.....!!!!
A cool Collection of horror stories for your enjoyment......
