Did a bit of Research on the "Problem"....

                             (our "bed-rock is brown shale, rather than limestone)...
Seems that there is most likely  a large underground chamber (near-by) ... Full of Lots of Water !!

                         This is an average "lay-out" of an Underground stream system...
