A little holiday ghost... (drawn from the small picture of a figurine in a sales ad) that we drew around this time back in 1984 (while in the Federal loony bin)....
Back with another Halloween decorating tip...
Our decorating tip for the day... how to make Creepy Hands for your props...
Make a wire frame to start... and padding to the wires to "flesh-out" the fingers and hand....
... Then shape pieces (they are easier to work with than "strips") and make the outer skin for the hands... Spray paint your desired color... and you have a cool looking pair of Hands...
I like the pointed tapered fingers shown here....
That was an "easy" method to craft "Hands"....
Using the same wire frame used for the other hand...
This method give a very "realistic" look to the hands....
Use thin PVC piping to sheath each wire to create "Fingers"... and cut most of the way through each "finger" to make the "joints"...
the wire under-structure allows you to bend, pose, and position each "finger"...
add "skin" (again) using masking tape...
continue with masking tape till the hand is"fleshed-out"...
Next apply some adhesive...
begin to add cotton fibers to build up and give shape to the hand...
don't forget the knuckles....
coat the entire thing with latex paint and you have a cool-looking prop...!!
Ooooooo, they DO look rather creepily real!
