This film from Hammer Films was one of my favorites... starring both Christopher Lee And Peter Cushing... about a doctor/ scientist (Cushing) who lost his wife to insanity... and now fears that the same will happen to his daughter ... and tries to create a serum to prevent this from happening... Meanwhile his Evil brother runs an asylum and looks down on his brother's research... Then we introduce the giant skeleton which was dug up ( from a far away "dry" part of the world)... After he accidentally spills some water on one of its fingers...which re-hydrates and grows a translucent vein filled fleshy covering... From this "flesh" he makes an extract to treat his daughter....
The storyline is a bit "lame" then takes a few plot turns that are not really relevant to the "monster" in the story... after injecting his daughter with his serum she becomes a "murderous mad woman" ...She is later locked up by her uncle (Lee) in his asylum.... and he attempts to steal his brother's (Cushing) discovery on a dark stormy night and the skeletal horror comes to life and then returns for its finger....
Peter Chsuing delivers a great performance as a desperate man's descent into madness..
Cushing goes mad at the end and is also locked up inthe asylum as well where he dwells as a "nine-fingered" madman....ranting about the "horror" this creature of pure evil is now free to unleash into our world....
as a small child I went to the drive-in theater with my parents to see this film...
